Charming Party Feet

Glam up your feet with a pedicure before the big event. Short on time for a salon visit? Treat yourself to a soothing DIY pedicure in the comfort of your home.

As winter wraps our toes in warm wool, the upcoming holiday parties will have us swapping cozy slippers for elegant evening shoes, revealing our feet for the first time since we stowed away the summer sandals.

Fortunately, you can make your feet look as festive as a beautifully wrapped gift in just three simple steps:

Step 1: Pedicure

Start by soaking your feet in warm water for at least 10 minutes. Using one foot at a time, gently massage a palmful of Epsom salts or sea salts into the skin, focusing on the heels, ankles, and balls of your feet. Rinse off afterwards.

Utilize a nail brush to clean beneath and around your nails. Massage organic sweet almond oil or olive oil into your cuticles, and gently push them back with an orange stick—avoid cutting them, as this can cause infections. Pat your feet dry.

Trim toenails straight across with straight-edge clippers, keeping them close to the tip of your toes to prevent painful ingrown nails. Regular scrubbing and exfoliation will help eliminate calluses and corns, even after the party season ends.

Step 2: Treatment

Generously apply organic sweet almond oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil to your feet, making sure to treat the areas between your toes. Take the time to gently stretch and massage each toe, as well as the tops and heels of your feet. Slip into a comfy pair of cotton socks before bedtime, and you’ll wake up with baby-soft feet.

Step 3: Decoration

Add some sparkle to your toes with nontoxic water-based polishes. Free from harmful phthalates and formaldehyde, these natural options allow you to flaunt beautiful feet while prioritizing your health.

File your nails in one direction to prevent snags that could tear your hosiery. Apply a clear base coat first to extend the life of your polish. After waiting about 15 minutes, it’s time to get bold with vibrant colors like hot pink or red! Once the color is dry, finish with a protective clear top coat.

Your lovely feet will be too pretty to hide away in boots!

Tip

Keep some nontoxic polish remover and a cotton swab handy to easily clean up any polish that strays onto your skin.
