Ginger Hair Oil

1 tsp (5 mL) fresh ginger root, grated
1/4 cup (60 mL) light sesame oil

This oil promotes hair growth, alleviates dandruff, and enhances blood circulation in the scalp. It leaves behind a subtle ginger scent that is quite refreshing.

Wrap the grated ginger in cheesecloth and squeeze out about 1/4 teaspoon of juice into the sesame oil. Blend the oil and ginger juice together with a fork until well mixed. Massage this mixture into your scalp and leave it on for 10 minutes before shampooing.

Herbal Rinse for Dry Hair and Dandruff

1/2 cup (125 mL) apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup (125 mL) fresh mint, chopped
1 Tbsp (30 mL) fresh lavender leaves and flowers, chopped
1 cup (250 mL) water

Mix all the ingredients and allow the blend to steep overnight. When ready to use, strain the mixture and pour it over wet, clean hair, massaging it into your scalp for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water.

Herbal Rinse for Oily Hair

2 cups (500 mL) boiling water
1 tsp (5 mL) each of burdock root, calendula flowers, chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, lemongrass, and sage leaves
1 Tbsp (30 mL) vinegar

Pour the boiling water over the herbs and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain and mix in the vinegar. Use this blend as a final rinse after shampooing, leaving it in without rinsing.

Herbal Spritz

Grab a handful of your preferred herbs and thoroughly rub them together in your hands. Add them to a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, then cover and steep for 2 to 3 hours. Strain out the herbs and transfer the remaining liquid into a spray bottle. Use this herbal spritz any time you need a refreshing pick-me-up for your hair!
